The North Carolina Small Grain Growers Association (NCSGGA) has announced the voting procedures and importance of the upcoming 2025 Assessment Referendum, which requires a two-thirds majority vote to pass. North-Carolina-Small-Grain-Growers-Association-Referendum-Voting-Details-Date-Thursday-December-4th-2025-Time-830-a.m.-–-500-p.m.-Polling-Places-County-Extension-Centers-Eligibility-Any-North-Ca

Why the Assessment Referendum Matters

“Providing Positive Change for Small Grain Growers” is the NCSGGA’s mission.

The continuation of the self-assessment program is vital because the revenues collected (an assessment of 0.005 of total money a farmer receives on small grains) are spent exclusively on the small grain industry for:

  • Research & Education: Funding applied research, variety development, field days, and Extension programs.

  • Promotion & Marketing: Creating opportunities to showcase the importance of agriculture to young people and the community.

  • Industry Support: Providing support for organizations like FFA, 4-H, the National Wheat Growers Association, and more.

  • Scholarships: Funding student scholarships, including the NC Small Grain Growers Scholarship and the Dan Weathington Endowment Scholarship.

 Key Details to Remember:

  • In-person only. NO absentee voting will be permitted
  • EligibilityYou must be a North Carolina small grain farmer, age 18 or older by December 4th, 2025.
  • Requirement: Bring your driver’s license for residency proof and be prepared to sign an affidavit attesting to residency.
