What is the Extension Master Food Volunteer Program?
The Extension Master Food Volunteer (EMFV) program was designed for people who want to make a difference in their community through food-related activities. Whether you are an experienced home cook, a nutrition enthusiast, or simply someone who enjoys the connection made while sharing meals, the EMFV program offers a unique way to share your skills and passion.
Program volunteers will dedicate five Saturdays in January and February 2026 and receive specialized and hands-on training in cooking, food safety, nutrition, food systems and more. After class completion, program participants will volunteer 30 hours/year with Durham Cooperative Extension and engage with 10 hours/year of continuing education opportunities.
Benefits to volunteers extend beyond cooking and food-related knowledge -- the EMFV program offers a wonderful opportunity to meet people, make friends and appreciate Durham in new ways!
How Can You Get Involved?
