The Durham Landscape Seminar focuses on providing continuing education and re-certification credits for public and private sector green industry professionals, including landscapers, grounds and turf managers, and greenhouse and nursery producers. Home gardeners, HOA grounds managers, and others are also welcome to attend.

Join us as we learn how taking an integrated approach, combining cultural, biological, mechanical, and cultural controls, can improve the landscapes you manage from the ground up.

11 a.m. to 12 p.m. – The Importance of Soil Health and the Benefits of Soil Amending

Beyond just designing and installing of beautiful and sustainable landscapes, the landscape industry is tasked with developing landscapes that require less maintenance, use less water, better protect the environment, and meet changing regional environmental requirements. Because of these requirements, creating healthy soils which are more environmentally resilient and better able to deal with a changing climate is key. In this session, you will learn how amendments can improve landscape-grade soils, improve stormwater management and reduce erosion, reduce water usage and plant loss, and aid in the establishment of native plants and vegetation.
