4-H At the Hub Farm

Durham 4-H has been thrilled to start a new after school club with The Hub Farm this year. “The Hub” is Durham Public School’s outdoor learning center. Along with offering volunteer opportunities and school field trips, this 30-acre property is home to countless learning workshops, summer camps, and now a new 4-H club!

For the last few months, a group of new 4-Hers has spent time seeding sunflowers, exploring soil, building trellises, and making handmade paper. Through the 4-H “learn by doing” approach, and with the awesome support of an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer, youth get to learn about the environment with hands-on curriculum and instruction. A big thanks to the staff at the Hub Farm for sharing their property and resources with this new club!
