Patience Mukelabai displaying The "Making A Difference" Award from Alliance Health PlanThe Alliance Health Plan recently recognized Welcome Baby, a program with Durham County Co-Operative Extension, with the “Making a Difference Award”. Welcome Baby received the award due to the quick thinking response by the staff to come up with a safe, contactless way to continue to serve the community with diapers and clothing during the pandemic.

When the pandemic hit, the team transitioned immediately from an “inside diaper distribution” to a “drive through” diaper distribution. In the “drive through” diaper distribution, clients drove up to the staff table, which was appropriately socially distanced, with both staff and clients masked. The parents then gave the necessary information to staff,  and the family would then drive to the back where they could pick up their diapers and wipes in a “contact free” manner.

Welcome Baby is proud to be recognized by Alliance Health with this award. Thank you for all you do to help the Durham Community!
