Victory gardenThe Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteer Association of Durham County (DCEMGVA) has received a grant from Duke University and Duke University Health System for emergency relief for the community to address immediate, basic needs in response to COVID-19.

The grant will be used to support the 4-H Victory Garden Program, which will distribute container and in-ground gardening kits to Durham families with children. These kits will help address food insecurity issues by allowing families to grow their own vegetables at home.

In addition to providing kits, our 4-H, Family & Consumer Science, and Agriculture teams will be creating weekly videos with educational content about gardening and cooking with the plants supplied. They will also host videos, take questions, and work with kids directly via social media.
