Notice to Poultry Producers

in Durham and Orange Counties

Do you need an efficient, accessible, straightforward, and cost-effective way to process your birds?

Beginning this year, we are now offering producers the opportunity to rent our Mobile Poultry Processing Unit.

Included:

  • Cones for broilers, turkeys, and gamebirds
  • Cone stand and base
  • Scalder / dunker with shackle
  • Plucker
  • Stainless steel tables (2)
  • Transformer (110v-220v)
  • NSF water hose
  • Trailer locks and keys

Prior to renting the Mobile Poultry Processing Unit, producers must attend an in-county training on the following topics: animal welfare, biosecurity, pest control, equipment and tools, sanitation, food safety, and start-to-finish processing of the bird. In partnership, Durham and Orange Counties provide at least two of these trainings per year. Our next training will be held in early 2024. For information about renting the Mobile Poultry Processing Unit or the required pre-rental training, please contact John Lyttle at john_lyttle@ncsu.edu or visit this link:
