Last month, the Durham Horse Club represented Durham 4-H proudly by competing in the State 4-H Horse Show. There were a total of 5 participants from Durham! These 4-Her's have worked alongside their coaches to train and prepare for this show and each year the place within their category.

In order to complete in the State Horse Show, participants must qualify at the North Central District Qualifying Show in May. The coaches and parents of the Durham Horse Club are a committed, close knit community that provide excellent structure to their teaching to prepare the participants for all of their competitions.

Each 4-Her earned placements in different areas during the competitions during the show.

Livia Buchholz placed 3rd in Long Stirrup Bridle Path Hack and 6th in Long Stirrup Equitation on the flat

Emeline Miel placed 9th Stock Type Hunter Showmanship in Hand, 6th Stock Type Hunter Under Saddle, 5th Stock Type Hunt Seat Equitation and 6th Stock Type All Around Hunter Pattern

Lily O'Briant placed 7th in Short Stirrup Showmanship and 3rd in Ground Handling Class

Jacey O'Briant placed 3rd in Rookie Ranch Ground Handling, 6th in Rookie Ranch Trail, 6th in Rookie Ranch Riding, 8th in Rookie Ranch Ranch Rail w/t and 9th in Rookie Ranch Rail w/t/l

Gabi Mebane placed 2nd in Western Dressage Intro Test 3 and 4th in Western Dressage Intro Test 1

Outside of the District and State Horse Shows, the Durham Horse Club competes in other competitions such as the District and State Hippology Contests and many other events.

They are currently looking for new members who are interested in competitive Hippology and Equestrian competitions such at 4-H Horse Bowl , where the compete against other County 4-H Horse teams. Any youth may can also compete in the District and State Horse Shows if they have their own horses to practice and compete with. This club is perfect for avid Horse riders that are between the ages of 12-18 who are interested in deepening their knowledge on horse anatomy and proper care !
