Growing and Nuturing our Local Community:  2011 Accomplishments & Outcomes

The 2011 Report to the Community: Growing and Nuturing our Local Community reflects on the results of the work of Durham County Cooperative Extension in 2010. The Durham County Center offers programs in Early Childhood Development, Youth Development, Consumer and Family Education, Agriculture and Horticulture, and Community Capacity Building; including: 4-H, Project Build, Welcome Baby, Kids Voting, Briggs Avenue Gardens, Strengthening Families, Durham County ACCESS & much more.

In 2010, we:

  • Leveraged more than 1.4 million dollars in grants from public and private funders to address local priorities.
  • Logged 35,727 volunteer hours by trained volunteers.
  • Supported an average of 191 monthly educational events and meetings in our Durham County site.
  • Made over 120,246 contacts with area residents.
