Soil Testing Information

In North Carolina, most soils are acidic and low in nutrients. Good plant growth usually requires the addition of lime and fertilizer. Soil testing is the best way to find out how much to apply. The North Carolina Department of Agriculture offers soil testing and information for both commercial growers and home owners. Soil samples are usually analyzed within about a week, but may take longer from late fall through early spring due to heavy loads from farmers at this time. Results of the tests are posted on an online system and also mailed to the client. MORE

Circle of Parents support program starts November 5th

Starting November 5 from 6-8pm, Circle of Parents provides a friendly, supportive environment led by parents and other caregivers. It is a place where anyone in a parenting role (ages 0-5) can openly discuss the successes and challenges of raising children. Welcome Baby creates Baby College in Durham

A new effort to bring resources to families to increase positive outcomes for children and families launches in East Durham in September 2009.
